“Perhaps there is in no country a climate more congenial to the natives of Great Britain, both as regards salubrity & comfort, than Nuwara Eliya;the temperature of the air never approaching to what is called tropical heat; & though the cold is as so great as to produce ice, still that piercing wind so frequently complained of in England, & so productive of pulmonary complaints, is never felt.”

Kandy. The name couldn't get any sweeter, unless you are Honey Rider: that is Ursula Andress of magnificent pair of legs emerging from Pacific singing
"Underneath the Mango tree" to the bewilderment of Bond, James Bond. Honey: What are you doing here, looking for shells? Bond: No, I'm just looking. Looking cannot get any better either: Kandy's location over the river, Mango trees, the man-made lake right at the centre of the town, the surrounding hills, the nature reserve, the temple, the ambience, the royal history, botanical gardens, and cultural attractions around the city; everything about the town is beautiful. Look to the content of your heart & play. Golf too in the Mediterranean climate. Written by bunpeiris. www.bunpeiris.com

Although simplicity is the most distinguishing characteristic of the ancient architectural remains of the Sinhalese, yet some of the carving in granite might complete with best modern workmanship of Europe (in the same material) both as to depth & sharpness of cutting; & the sculptures at Anuradhapura, & places built in remote ages, are distinguished from any attempts of modern natives, not less by the more animated action of the figures, than by greater correctness of proportion.
